The Folkestone Performing Arts Company’s collaboration with Napier Barracks and Tower Theatre Drama Project

The Folkestone Performing Arts Company is an artist-led international theatre ensemble creating vibrant, relevant and compelling theatre through the celebration of local stories.

FPAC ran a series of 6 free drama sessions at the Tower Theatre in Folkestone engaging with 41 asylum seekers & refugees from nations including Afghanistan, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Kurdistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, South Africa, Georgia, Sudan & Uganda all based at Napier Barracks. The workshops focused on enjoyment, empowerment, agency & self-expression. On the 6th and final week there was a private sharing performance for all partners and men & volunteers at Napier Barracks.  This whole experience was inspiring for everyone involved and gave the participants a chance to spend some time outside of the Barracks in a safe setting and for a time forget about their problems.
