Uniting musicians in conflict areas, worldwide
In 2018 a collective of Palestinian and Israeli musicians, Heartbeat, played at Charlton Park. They talked about how music could create conversations in conflict areas.
This struck a chord with one of our friends, Beyond Skin in Northern Ireland. Therefore, in March the WOMAD Foundation was delighted to support an event bringing together musicians from Heartbeat, Colombia and Sri Lanka with others to create spaces for meetings between different communities in Belfast.
A legacy from this collaboration has been #ArtsDialogue – a collective of creative peace activists representing Israel, Palestine, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Netherlands, England & Northern Ireland.
This project has recently developed into a recording collaboration between Beyond Skin, Zarifa Asgharia and Eva Kearney taking place at Real World Studios. Find out more here.
